SSC does not accept a photo upload — and hasn’t for a while

If you found this page searching for “SSC photo resizer 20–50 KB,” stop and read this first: as of the SSC CGL 2026 notice, there is no photo upload field in the SSC application at all. The candidate’s photograph is captured live at the exam centre with the invigilator’s equipment on exam day. Any tool advertising a specific pixel size and byte range for an “SSC photo” is describing a requirement that no longer exists in the current cycle — most likely copied forward from an older notice, or from another site that copied it without checking.

The only image field that survives in the current SSC application is the signature, and that’s what this page handles: 10–20 KB, uploaded once during registration.

The notice contradicts itself on physical size — so we don’t enforce one

Reading the SSC CGL 2026 notice closely turns up an internal inconsistency: §9.6 of the main notice states the signature should be 6.0 × 2.0 cm, while the application’s own annexure specifies 4.0 × 2.0 cm for the same field. Two official numbers, two different figures, in the same document set. Neither is obviously the “real” one, and the discrepancy hasn’t been publicly corrected as of this writing.

What actually determines whether your upload is accepted is the file size — SSC’s upload validator checks that the signature file is between 10 and 20 KB. It doesn’t reject uploads for being the “wrong” physical size in centimetres, because a JPEG file doesn’t carry an enforceable physical size at all — cm-to-pixel conversion depends on an assumed DPI that the notice doesn’t specify precisely enough to make either 6.0×2.0 or 4.0×2.0 unambiguous in pixels.

Given that, this tool intentionally does not force a fixed pixel size for the SSC signature — it only targets the 10–20 KB range that’s actually enforced. If you want to approximate one of the notice’s cm figures, scan your signature at a normal resolution (around 200 DPI) and let this tool compress it into range; the exact pixel count won’t be checked.
